AUDITIONS for the Transnet Rising Starz Competition will be held at the Mayibuye Centre in Kimberley on 15 May. The competition is sponsored by Transnet.
“Some of South Africa’s most captivating music talent can be found in the remote rural communities across the country and when given the chance to stand up and shine, these gifted individuals have the power to change not only their own futures, but but those of others as well,” Transnet says in a statement.
“To make this dream a reality, the Transnet Foundation launched Transnet Rising Starz, a talent-spotting initiative aimed at uplifting and nurturing the considerable vocal talent found in our many disadvantaged communities across South Africa. This initiative hopes to catapult the success of our local musicians and show the rest of the world the sort of talent that exists in South Africa,” the statement reads.
“This competition is committed to unearthing, supporting, guiding and representing musically talented young people. By providing them with an opportunity to shine, Transnet Rising Starz is assisting our youth in changing the trajectory of their future and believes, that when presented with their big break, both ordinary and great talent alike will have the potential to transform their lives as well as that of their communities.”
