Environmental officials of the Lejweleputswa District Municipality are currently visiting businesses in and around the district.
“For some time now, businesses have been adamant to adhere to the Air Pollution Act as delegated by government,” says Khaya Mqeke, spokesperson for the municipality.
“Our officials will wear name tags and carry an official letter addressed to the business.
“The district municipality has taken a decision to enforce the act in its totality. We are mindful that some people would want to use these visits to blemish the name of the municipality.
“We appeal to all businesses to be vigilant for those who will claim to be working for the district to advance their selfish agendas.”
The objective of the act is to enhance the quality of ambient air to secure an environment that is not harmful to the health and well-being of people.
