The beautiful and warm- hearted Lauralee Castle (35), a Welkomite who was born and bred in the Goldfields, is a semifinalist in the Mrs South-Africa pageant.
She said she entered the pageant for three reasons.
Firstly she wanted to show her daughter that it was fine to be a strong woman, to push your boundaries and to love and celebrate being a woman.
Secondly she wanted to show her son that one should follow your dreams, irrespective of one’s age or looks.
Thirdly, she had the support of her husband, who encouraged her to enter the pageant, knowing that it was not just a beauty pageant but a women’s empowerment programme as well.
“If I won the Mrs South-Africa competition,” she said, “I would concentrate on doing motivational speeches against bullying and anti-girl behaviour.
“I will motivate women and empower them to handle these situations.”
Castle was born in Welkom. She attended the Aurora Primary School, the Unitas High School and the Welkom College, where she studied cosmetology.
At the age of 15 she bought LC’s Models in Welkom. She moved to Cape Town where she worked as a model and a beauty therapist.
Her husband went into business with his father and they then relocated to Port Elizabeth.
Castle currently works in the family business, CLC Consulting Health and Safety.
She has also expanded her brand to include motivational speaking.
- She has been married to Alistair Castle (also from Welkom) for 12 years. The couple has two children, Joshua (9) and Shiloh (5). Vote for her by sending an SMS “Laura-lee Castle” to 35959.
