THE Kolomela Mine, one of Kumba’s mines in the Northern Cape, donated a brand-new soccer kit to the Asmandia Primary School in Postdene, one of the areas in Postmasburg. This was the first time that the school had ever received a kit and bright-eyed gr. 6 and gr. 7 boys were very excited about the much-needed donation. It consisted of jerseys, shorts, socks, soccer balls and other practice equipment.
Sydney Morrison, an experienced soccer player who has been coaching at the school for the past three years, said he had sent a request for sponsorship to the mine.
The Kolomela Mine remains focused on partnership and how it works with and in the communities to affect positive change and eliminate social ills caused by lack of access to information and resources.
George Benjamin, manager: public affairs at the Kolomela Mine, said: “The Kolomela Mine showed its involvement within the community to ensure that the investments deliver the impact they are intended to.”
