THE Cansa Welkom Care Centre recently visited the weekly oncology clinics at the Bongani Hospital, St Helena Private Hospital and the Mediclinic Welkom to hand out bedsocks, beanies, scarves and knee blankets to patients receiving their weekly cancer treatments. Much to the delight of the patients, delicious cupcakes X baked by local Cansa volunteers X were also handed out.
The knitwear was donated by Free State Core in Action (FSCA) knitting club in Wesselsbron. They receive wool donations from within their community and the FSCA also subsidises the financing of this project. This year they donated a total of 321 items to Cansa Welkom.
The Dutch Reformed church Welkom North also donated a large number of blankets towards this day to help Cansa warm the hearts of cancer patients
