(about 20 cookies)

  • 125 g (135 ml) butter
  • 100 g (125 ml) sugar
  • 100 g (125 ml) brown sugar
  • 2 ml vanilla essence
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 184 g (330 ml) self-raising flour
  • 1 ml salt
  • 125 g chocolate chips
  • 60 g walnuts, roughly chopped

Preheat your oven to 180 °C. Cream the butter and both sugars with an electrical mixer until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and mix. Add the beaten egg a little at a time and beat well after every addition. Sift the self-raising flour and salt together. Add it to the sugar mixture. Add the chocolate chips and walnuts and mix well. Spoon teaspoons of the mixture and form into balls. Put them on a baking tray that is lined with baking paper and buttered well, about 5 cm from each other. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes.
