• 195 g (350 ml) cake flour
  • 25 ml cocoa
  • 15 ml baking powder
  • 3 ml salt
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 160 g (200 ml) sugar
  • 100 ml sunflower oil
  • 100 ml water
  • 5 ml vanilla essence

Preheat the oven to 170 °C. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Beat egg yolks with the rest of the ingredients (except egg whites) for 3 minutes. Add dry ingredients to egg mixture and beat well. Beat egg whites until stiff and lightly fold into rest of mixture. Pour into lined cake tins and bake for 25 minutes. Make the ganache.


  • 250 ml cream
  • 250 g dark chocolate, broken

Put both ingredients in a saucepan and melt over very low heat. Allow to cool before decorating the cake.
