New head of Curro filled with knowledge

The new executive head of Curro Bloemfontein, Dr Mallory John du Plooy, has been appointed to take office from 1 July.

Du Plooy commenced his teaching career at the George High School in George before being promoted to the position of principal at the school.

Prior to joining Curro, he held the position of registrar at the Sol Plaatje University (SPU) in Kimberley.

His leadership experience stems from roles in student learning and development at the University of the Free State (UFS), as well as from independent consulting in the education field.

He also held the position of senior director of academic affairs and registrar at the Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State.

Du Plooy holds both a masters and doctorate degree in Education, which he acquired at the Nelson Mandela University (NMU).

He also earned double degrees in Arts and Education, and a university teaching diploma concludes his list of academic achievements.
