Saints’ squash team represents FS

The squash team of the St Andrew’s School will represent the Free State at the annual Top Schools Squash Tournament in Pietermaritzburg.

This takes place from 19 to 21 July and the provincial school champions from all over South Africa will battle it out to determine this year’s national champion.

Saints hosted Grey College on Saturday, 1 June, to determine which school would fly the Free State flag at the tournament.

It came as no surprise that Saints, with four Free State u.19A and two Free State u.16 players, was the winner. The team recorded a convincing six matches to nil win.

The team will be led by South African School’s selectors Calvin Deutschmann (coach) and Margo Morgan (administrator).

Saints has won the Top Schools event once and finished as runner-up eight years in the past two decades.

The school has also produced numerous South African schools players.

Deutschmann holds the unbreakable record of being the very first one.
