It’s nearly time for the annual Greyton Rose Fair

The theme of this year’s Rose Fair in Greyton is “Abundance”.

“Our people, community and environment all reflect the abundance that is such a part of our villages, in both Genadendal and Greyton, and in all our people of the valley,” explained John McGlashan, chairman of the fair.

The Rose Fair, on 26 and 27 October, brings an opportunity for the celebration of abundance, not only with funding to local community projects, but also a chance to showcase what we have to enjoy and share, with a very full programme this year.

The Rose Fair magazine and two-day programme will be available at all Greyton outlets at the beginning of October.

Rose Fair events include: . Saturday morning parade with local brass band, “Children’s Abundance”-themed fancy dress, drum majorettes and classic cars . Exhibition of rose show winners. Miss Rose and Rosebud competition and show. A special “Abundance” installation in the village hall. An extended craft and food products market. Wine tasting by Stettyn Wines. Chelsea Flower Show tea and talk. Country village picnic and music around the lake. Open Gardens (depending on rainfall) . Raffle tickets and a chance to win a big, big prize.

There are two special events on Saturday the 26th. The first is a wine tasting that will be hosted by Worcester family vineyard Stettyn Wines at Heart and Soul, West Street at 12:00.

The second, a Chelsea Flower Show talk, will be presented by artist Tristan Woudberg, at 15:00 in the beautiful Post House garden, including tea and scones, Tickets cost R75 and will be available for purchase at the Greyton Tourism Office, or at the door.

* All the proceeds from the Rose Fair will go towards local community projects.
