Celebration of thanksgiving

Nearly 80 stakeholders attended the Local Network of Care (LNOC) Stakeholder Appreciation and International Volunteers Day celebration at Somerset West Town Hall on 5 December 2019. Those attending represented various community stakeholders and the LNOC members from across the Helderberg. The event was held in partnership with the City of Cape Town’s Department of Social Development and Early Childhood Development (ECD). On the day, the South Roots International performing Arts group provided entertainment on stage, while Dr Leana Olivier of the Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR) delivered the keynote address, which focused on the dilemma with Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and the need to raise awareness around this matter. Also in attendance were Drs Naiema Taliep and Ghouwa Ismail from the South African Medical Research Council and Unisa, with Taliep acting as the event’s programme director.
