Help needed to identify deceased

Macassar police are seeking the help of the public in identifying two deceased men whose lives were claimed in two separate incidents.

A 35-year-old man died after was run struck down on the N2 on Saturday 28 September at about 10:00.

“It is believed the man was relieving himself along the N2, near to Baden Powell Drive in the direction of Somerset West,” a Macassar police spokesperson told DistrictMail.

“He apparently then ran into oncoming traffic in an attempt to cross the highway. We don’t know what caused him to do that at this point in the investigation. He was not fully clothed when he died.”

The man died on the scene as a result of a major head injury sustained on impact.

The police urge anyone who may have a missing family member to contact them urgently.

In a separate incident, another unidentified man, whose age is unknown, was shot dead.

His body was found, face down, with a gunshot wound to the head on the corner of Kramat and Macassar Road on Wednesday 25 September. The discovery was made about 19:30 by a passerby.

“The suspects allegedly made off in a white Toyota Tazz with no registration plates,” the spokesperson said. “Their identities, however, are not known.”

The spokesperson said the man, who was shot execution-style, was wearing a blue and white golf T-shirt and black pants at the time of his death.

Anyone with information about any of these cases, or who have missing friends or family members, can phone Sergeant Desire Adendolf at the Macassar Police Station on 021 857 7100.
