Suspect behind bars two years after teen’s murder

More than two years after the cold-blooded murder of 17-year-old Kyle Bosman, his alleged murderer has been arrested and charged at Somerset West Magistrates’ Court.

The teenager was fatally shot in Macassar on Christmas Day in 2016.

Kyle’s father, Petrus Bosman, was emotional at the news of the suspect’s arrest. “As a father, I miss my only son dearly. He was very young when he was taken from us,” he said, fighting back tears.

“I can’t describe how I am feeling right now, it’s been a very traumatising time for myself and my wife. I pray that God gives us the strength and courage to get through this.”

At the time of the murder, Bosman said the family struggled to come to terms with the loss as there was no apparent motive for the incident.

Evidence was apparently also not forthcoming as community members were too afraid to share information.

According to a Macassar police spokesperson, the suspect has been identified as a 26- year-old man. He was arrested last Thursday.

Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed the suspect appeared in court on Friday 5 April.

He has been identified as Jenobian Lot and the case was postponed to a later date.

He remains in police custody.
