Fairview takes the cream

South African cheese making has once again been ranked among the best in the world, what with local company Fairview being honoured again at the World Cheese Awards in San Sebastián in Northern Spain towards the end of last year.

The Paarl cheese giant took home three awards. Now in its 29th year, the World Cheese Awards, the world’s most prestigious cheese competition, saw 3 021 cheeses judged by more than 260 international cheese connoisseurs.

Fairview’s Chevre Roue, a robust goat’s milk cheese, was awarded a gold rating. Fairview’s Botham’s Cremezola Blue, a creamy, gorgonzola-style cheese, walked away with an impressive silver rating while Fairview’s Saint Louis, a white mould cheese made from Jersey milk, received a bronze rating.

“We are extremely proud to have been recognised internationally and are pleased to be able to offer our loyal customers an award-winning range of cheeses,” says Fairview owner Charles Back.

“We’re the only SA cheese company specified by Air France – and now you know why!”
