Big Brother will be watching from above

The hard working men and women of the police, law enforcement and security agencies in the Winelands will soon get more help – from the air.

“The Fidelity Security group has five helicopters in its air wing, which are used for a variety of tasks,” explains Verena Hulme, Cape Town North district manager at Fidelity ADT. “The helicopter for the Western Cape will, among other services, provide aerial support for responding to any serious incidents in which farmers or residents are affected.

Approval for a permanent helipad close to Stellenbosch has been obtained from the Civil Aviation Authority so the helicopter will be easily accessible.

“The helicopter can be used for reconnaissance, responding to serious incidents and helping with the tracking down of criminals who may be on the run,” Hulme said.

“We already have an excellent partnership in place with Stellenbosch Watch, and this helicopter will now add an invaluable aerial element to our operations in the area.”
