Home Affairs gets a new home

Home Affairs Deputy Minister Fatima Chohan officially opened a modernised Home Affairs (DHA) office in Stellenbosch last week.

The new office forms part of DHA’s modernisation programme. Through the Moetapele Initiative, which seeks to provide convenience to clients through a high-quality, efficient and professional service, the new office models are equipped with state-of-the art infrastructure with a key objective to migrate from a manual to a paperless environment.

With its new technology, the office offers applications and collections of the new Smart ID Card, passports and other related civic services including registration of births.

Chohan also visited Stellenbosch Hospital where she met staff and handed over birth certificates to parents of newborn babies. This was part of the department’s overall drive to ensure that newborn babies are registered within 30 days of birth.

V The DHA office is on the corner of Jan Cilliers and Ryneveld Street.
