For the first time 130 new international students at the University of Stellenbosch were last weekend treated to a bicycle ride through town.

The event turned out to be a big success despite some of them having to go from 0° to 30 °C in just a few days.

Groups of about 15 students each left the University Vehicle Fleet Office premises every two hours from 08:00 to 14:00 through Saturday and Sunday.

The students used the Maties rent bikes and, although some of them only learnt to ride a bicycle a few days before, there were no hitches.

The event was organised and managed by die International Office and Stellenbosch Fietsry and guides from the Stellenbosch Trail Fund helped the newcomers along their way.
