Collaboration is the name of the game at this month’s Toyota SU Woordfees. The event brings together a unique collaboration, incorporating the town, university, artists, audiences and communities from across South Africa.

In keeping with the theme of collaboration, the newly formed Visit Stellenbosch has unified all Stellenbosch tourism stakeholders under one umbrella, with the aim of creating 5 000 new jobs in the town’s tourism and experience economy over the next five years.

Visit Stellenbosch connects all aspects of tourism, and creates a compelling and unique place experience for locals and visitors throughout the year. At the heart of this new organisation lies a determined focus on tourism-led social solutions, specifically in terms of job creation and skills improvement, and enterprise development.

At its core lies the socio-economic development of Stellenbosch communities. Among several initiatives aimed at inspiring visitors to stay longer, do more and visit us again, the destination marketing organisation this month launches its new mobile kiosk, bringing Stellenbosch and its exciting tourism offices to the street.

“Locals and visitors should keep their eye out for our rolling mobile kiosk to learn about the core experiences that are distinctive to Stellenbosch and suit the needs of guests visiting our beautiful town.

“We are grateful to the Municipality of Stellenbosch for its generous funding of our mobile kiosk,” says Jeanneret Momberg, GM of Visit Stellenbosch, “and look forward to sharing the Stellenbosch story, from arts and culture to the great outdoors, from wine tasting to business travel and beyond.

“Our mobile kiosk will make its first appearance at this year’s Woordfees, with Visit Stellenbosch chairperson Mike Ratcliffe joining a panel discussion on ‘youth unemployment’ and how to find solutions to create more jobs.

To this end, Visit Stellenbosch has approved a robust socio-economic development plan, and is working with stakeholders across the wine and tourism sectors to achieve its ambitious goal of 5 000 jobs in the next five years, Momberg says.
