Three more points for Stellenbosch FC

The Stellenbosch Football Club jumped to fourth place on the National First Division log after a 2-0 victory over Real Kings of Durban this past weekend in Idas Valley.

Iqraam Rayners scored both goals for the local team, owned by the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport.

It was the second victory for Stellenbosch FC after beating Ubuntu Cape Town 2-1 at the Cape Town Stadium last week.

Stellenbosch local Ashley du Preez scored his first professional goal in this match.

After six matches in the league, SFC is now in fourth place, winning three matches and losing two and one draw. SFC has 10 points. Milano United is on top with 12 points after six games.

The victory over Real Kings was the first win for SFC in Stellenbosch. The previous home game ended in a 0-0 draw.

“Getting two victories in a row in the NFD is not easy. We wanted to achieve that though, so to get it is great,” said coach Steve Barker.

Next game in the NFD for SFC is against Witbank Spurs.

The next home game in Idas Valley is the last weekend of the month.
