A further Covid-19 decline

Covid-19 cases in the Overberg have shown a decrease.

From Thursday 8 October the Overberg recorded 34 active cases.

According to Roche Butler, spokesperson for the Overberg District Health Department, the Overberg has seen 96% of active cases recover to date. A total of 60 health workers have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Overberg District, all have since recovered meaning zero deaths.

Butler says the Health Department is pleased with the significant drop in positive cases, and it thanks residents of the Overberg for following necessary protocols needed to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Since the inception of community testing screenings in the Overberg a total of 310 011 people have been screened for Covid-19 by community health workers.

Residents are reminded to continue practising safety measures, such as wearing a mask and keeping a distance when leaving their homes. “We urge the community to avoid crowds and large gatherings,” said Butler. “It is very important that we remain vigilant so that we can avoid a second wave.”
