Christian youth camps

“There is no greater time than now for the youth to rise.”

This is the belief of Henrico Faro who started the Charismata Youth Camps last year. “The Greek origin for Charismata is the plural form of charism meaning spiritual gift,” he explained. “Our vision is to help the youth with their identities and potential gifts - the discovery and development of it.”

Charismata was launched with an Identity Winter Camp over a weekend in June 2019 and was attended by 43 young people – mainly teenagers of 13 to 18 years and a few in their early 20s.

Faro said the formula of this camp proved so popular Charismata decided to organise an Identity Summer Camp, which was held on 29 November to 1 December. It was a group of 50, although the interest was much bigger.

Faro says a wider spectrum of activities and workshops are now planned for 2020. “Our focus is to unite and work with local churches and youth ministries,” he said. “The youngsters attending these camps are from the Overberg and Cape regions.”

Faro is grateful for support for the initiative – especially from pastors Dean Faro, Winky Faro, Susan Benjamin, Apostle Leon and the Jubilee International Ministries family, Schean Gardiner (SW Gardiner Tours and Transfers), Ann Spandiel, Mount Pleasant Primary, VCSV Kleinmond Campsite, Quintin and Charlene Witbooi, Veronica and Maggie Honco (cooks), and summer camp facilitators minister Gladys Cryer (VGK Hawston), Aunty Wilhemien, Brendell and Prudence Adams, Ronald and Johnnilene Martin, and others.
