Dyer Trust students filmed

Four of the Dyer Island Conservation Trust Environmental Education Programme (Deep) students set out on 27 December on a unique filming opportunity on the children’s reality series Roughing It Out (SABC 2).

Deep has worked for more than a decade with its production team, InSync Productions, and has been featured in previous episodes.

The series is summed up as “removing contestants from the comfort of urban living and immersing them back into nature, and testing both their mental and physical skills in the face of adrenalin fuelled eco-challenges.”

This is the sixth series and is being filmed in the Western Cape. Educator Pinkey Ngewu took the students through to Cape Town as they start their two week experience.

The students, who are high school students at Gansbaai Academy, have completed their three-year Deep course. They remain members of the Deep Club, an after-programme that ensures interest in the marine conservation world and to help set them up for the Marine Sciences programme being run at the school.
