This year marks the fourth year that the Harley Owners Group (HOG) made their way to Hermanus to hand over all the proceeds raised at the Cape Seal Rally to the Hermanus Night Shelter.
The Cape Seal Rally took place at Gearings Point in December 2019. It was a moment of joy when the cheque of R45 000 was revealed and handed over to the Hermanus Night Shelter on Sunday 2 February.
“We are simply thrilled,” says Ray Hartmann treasurer of the Hermanus Night Shelter. According to Hartmann the funds generated enables the shelter to start securing the building, electrical installations and the plumbing which will take approximately three weeks. Not only did the shelter receive R45 000, but they also received two JoJo tanks worth R5 000 and a donation by a local businessman.
“We are extremely grateful to these generous bikers with hearts of gold. We were also extremely pleased that our Patron, Penny Streeter & husband Nick could be present as well as deputy mayor Elnora Gillion”.
Hartmann would also like to thank Malvin Meyer from HOG’s who has been an awesome driving force over the years, “he deserves a lot of credit for what has been achieved, HOGS are truly angels on motorbikes”. R1,1 million is still needed to complete the Hermanus Night Shelter, situated in Malva Street in Mount Pleasant. This cost includes the completion of window fittings, building materials, furnishing and completing the building.
