Institute of Race Relations speaks at Chamber AGM

The Hermanus Business Chamber held its Annual General Meeting at the Hermanus Varsity on Monday 8 April.

The chairperson, Gideon Serfontein, gave his report to the meeting and the new executive committee members were selected.

After the general meeting, Dr Frans Cronjé of the Institute of Race Relations shared and discussed with the group possible post-election scenarios. He shared statistics on the voting demographics of the different parties. Dr Cronjé also gave five points on what he would do if he were to have his own party. He explained that he would deregulate the labour market to price poor people into jobs, expand powers of school governing bodies to allow communities to control schools, replace the racial basis of empowerment policy with socio-economic disadvantage, split parliament into an upper and lower house with the one elected via constituencies and lastly to allow communities to elect their own police station commanders.
