L2L walk a real winner

“The annual Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse (L2L) ladies walk was a huge success.”

This is according to Simone Heunis from L2L. The four day 100 km walk in aid of Butterfly Centre in Stanford started on Thursday 12 February at the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse and ended at Danger Point Lighthouse on Sunday 15 February. Heunis says during the four day, walk the spirits of the ladies ran high and positive. “We had perfect weather, there were a couple of mornings with rain and mist, but that made the walk even better with a nice and cool climate. It was a fit group and everyone pushed through to finish.”

According to Jami Kastner founder of Butterfly Centre, the L2L walk was an incredible life changing experience.

“The organisation was seamless, the catering was awesome, the scenery breathtaking, but the greatest thing of all was the people, 120 women, walking for their own reasons, but also for a common purpose to improve the lives of others in the Overstrand community.”

Kastner added that because this year’s funds is going towards the centre it made the walk even more meaningful to her.

“As we walked the first hour of the morning in silence, I really felt the power of everyone’s prayers. I can’t thank the ladies who organised and walked enough. I am excited to see who we can help in the future, as I am definitely a Lighthouse lady now.
