New MM to be announced soon

OVERSTRAND – The proposed candidate for a new Municipal Manager was to be revealed at the council meeting on Wednesday.

The current Municipal Manager, Coenraad (Coenie) Groenewald, will be reaching his retirement age on 6 October and his fixed term contract of employment will terminate on 31 October.

Altogether 28 applications were received for the position and the recruitment and selection process was facilitated by Roy Steele and Associates.

The selection process consisted of two primary components, which included a case study evaluation and a structured interview.

The scores derived from the above processes were combined to arrive at an aggregate score that identifies candidates deemed to be the most competent among the applicants. A total of three candidates were, after proper screening, invited to attend the evaluation and interview sessions for the post. One candidate withdrew from the interview session.

Dudley Coetzee, Executive Mayor of Overstrand Municipality will inform council during its meeting of the selection panel’s proposal with regard to the appointment of a Municipal Manager with effect from 1 November.

The council meeting had not yet concluded by time of going to print.
