Owner is desperate to find her cat

Social media is abuzz with efforts from the community of Hermanus to help a woman locate her lost cat.

Flynn and his owner, identified here only as Jayne from Cape Town, were involved in a car accident on the R43 (the stretch of road between Bot River and Hermanus at the bottom of the hill which leads to Benguela Cove), on the morning of 5 June.

“Flynn managed to escape after the accident and we believe he ran left of the road towards the Karwyderskraal area,” said the owner. “We also have good reason to believe that he spent the following days around those farmlands.”

She stated she and her family had searched for a week straight, day and night, making use of animal communicators, leaving food at the site where the accident had occurred, they even camped out for a night in the hopes of finding beloved Flynn. “Unfortunately, I work in Cape Town and had to go back to work, so I cannot physically search anymore except for the odd visit,” Jayne explained.

“At least once a month for the past six months, Flynn has travelled to Hermanus, to the Fernkloof Golf Course, where my parents live. He also spent about two weeks in Fernkloof just before the accident, so there is a good chance he could be trying to make his way back there,” she noted hopefully.

Flynn is a 6-7 month old rescue cat that was found in a plastic bag in a parking lot in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. “This made him slightly wary of humans,” Jayne pointed out, “yet, despite this, he was also extremely loving and gentle.”

Flynn is a short-haired domestic cat, a light tabby with prominent stripes on his back and one definitive stripe under his jawline.

He has green eyes and was wearing a blue collar at the time of the accident. He is also microchipped.

Jayne expressed her sense of gratitude towards anyone who shared Flynn’s facebook posts, followed his story or phoned with details.

A R2 000 reward is being offered for anyone who can find Flynn. Contact Jayne on 082 523 3344 if you have any details on Flynn’s whereabouts, or any sightings.
