Local bowlers compete for top honours

The finals of the Hermanus Bowling Club’s club championship took place this past weekend.

In the two-ball ladies’ singles compe­tition the winner was Tish Bryce, with Louise Roediger in second place.

The two-ball men’s singles competition Paul Naylor took first place, with Keith Kruth in second.

In the chosen two-ball triples compe­tition Alick Bruce-Band, Jerome Thorpe and Jean Greyling took first place, with Wynand Pool, Elsie McGeoch and Colin Butler in second place.

Tish Bryce took first place in the ladies’ singles competition and Jean Greyling had to settle for second place.

Wynand Pool won the men’s singles competition with Paul Naylor in second place.

Linda Bruwer crushed the competitors in the novice ladies’ singles competition, and Pat Kelly had to settle for the second spot. In the novice men’s singles category Hedley Tarlton won, with Tony Kelly finishing second. The chosen ladies’ pairs category was won by Lucille Herbst and Anneke Thorpe, and the chosen men’s pairs category saw Jerome Thorpe and Peter Quinn as the victors.

In the chosen mixed pairs category Wynand Pool and Lucille Herbst took first place and Ena Linde and teammate Willie van Dyk took second place.

In the drawn ladies’ pairs competition Elsa Carstens and Linda Bruwer collectively took first place. The drawn men’s pairs category Wynand Pool and Bobbie van Rooyen took first place.

Louise Roediger, Elsie McGeoch and Sonja Kruger won the chosen ladies trips’ competition, followed by Rosa Cloete, Jean Greyling and Anneke Thorpe in second place. In the chosen men’s trips category Keith Kruth, Jerome Thorpe and Colin Butler took first place, followed by Brian Higgo, Bruwer Scannell and Johan Janse van Rensburg in second place.
