Change a new beginning

Time flies and another year has passed.

It is time to prepare for the annual celebration of Christmas and the New Year.

The Kalahari Bulletin family went through several changes this year.

One of these changes was the resignation of Lecrecia Prins as the editor of Kalahari Bulletin.

She may have stopped being a colleague but will always remain a dear friend of the newspaper.

We wish her much joy and happiness as she begins a new chapter in her life.

Another change was me becoming the new editor of the Kalahari Bulletin.

As we enter 2020, I renew my pledge as a journalist to do my very best.

The paper will continue striving to be the most accurate, fair and balanced source of news in the Northern Cape.

The year may have been marked by various challenges such as financial turmoil, weather-related catastrophes and crime that continue to plague our communities.

As we think about that Christmas feast, gleaming lights and wrapped gifts under the tree, I encourage all of us to share our celebration with someone who could not even dream of such a celebration.

The true soul of Christmas is not in the food and the presents, but about people accepting each other and spreading the happiness.

Our hearts go out to those who lost loved ones this year and those experiencing difficulties this holiday season.

Kalahari Bulletin will take a publishing break over the Christmas period, but will be back again in force early in January.

We are wishing all of our readers and advertisers a happy festive season and all the best for the new year as we head into 2020.
