Dedication honoured

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Northern Cape has said farewell to Maj. Gen. Kolie Matthys after he had dedicated himself to the service for 32 years.

The journey of Matthys started in 1986, and he has worked at various stations including Kimberley, Galeshewe and Kuruman. His service ended in November 2018 and he retires as the cluster commander of ZF Mgcawu.

The cluster held a farewell event for him in Upington, which was attended by the heads of various government departments, labour unions, his family, as well as the heads of the Northern Cape.

Among the speakers at the event was Lt. Gen. Risimati Shivuri, Northern Cape commisioner, who applauded the retired member for all the years that he had dedicated himself to the service. He also thanked the family of Matthys for the time that the service had kept him from them.

Matthys said he was delighted that he would be having more time on his hands, and said he would spend it with his family.

He also delivered his message of appreciation to the management. Special recognition was also directed to his secretaries who worked with him throughout the years.
