New manager at park

A new era has dawned for the Augrabies Falls National Park with the appointment of their new park manager, Angela Isaks.

She is well-known within SANParks Arid Region’s management.

Apart from being regional people and conservation (PC) coordinator, she was also the park manager for Namaqua National Park from April 2016 to December 2019.

Isaks started her career at SANParks in 2004 as the PC coordinator at the Augrabies Falls National Park, named after the Khoi word “Aukoerebis” which means “The place of great noise”.

Isaks is the only female park manager in the Arid Region and has proved with her excellent management of Namaqua National Park that this new park will be right up her ally.

Isaks says it is important to ensure a healthy environment and climate especially among the staff component, which is conducive for valuable outcomes in strengthening the vision and mission of the park.

“The efforts of all need to be recognised with the aim to nurture positive relationships among both internal and external stakeholders.”

She says the value of characteristics such as trust, respect and loyalty amongst others, also need to be understood and executed in daily operations – with staff, customers and community members.
