IN honour of the memory of late president Nelson Mandela, Transnet Freight Rail decided to give their 67 minutes, this year, to the community of Rosmead.
A total of 100 households of single mothers, as well as other vulnerable households, were identified and gifted with a substantial food pack by the rail transport company. Community activist and organiser of the event, Veronique Wagener, said that the community had been hit hard by the economic effects of lockdown.
“Many people are now forced to stay at home, when they used to generate an income through jobs in nearby Middelburg. Transnet could not have reached out to us with a more apt project than simply providing food for desperate families,” Wagener said.
