Sewage still flows

Sewage at the Dutch Reformed Church in Cross Street has been overflowing for more than four months now.

The issue was reported to the Moqhaka Municipality on 3 December.

Residents and churchgoers are overwhelmed by the smell and the sewage makes the sidewalk inaccessible.

“Irrespective of the cause of the blockage, we feel that the Moqhaka Municipality has had more than enough time to resolve this problem,” says Cllr Jean Hattingh.

On 19 February, Kroonnuus reported that a case against the Moqhaka Municipality had been made at the Human Rights Commission with regards to continuous sewage leaks.

Kroonnuus has sent enquiries to the Moqhaka Municipality regarding the case at the Human Rights Commission, and enquiried about the ongoing sewage leaks. Kroonnuus is still awaiting feedback.
