While walking his dog on Sunday evening (17/01), Emile Hendricks came across this crab near the railway station in Kimberley. He says it is unusual to see a crab in the city. According to Doug Harebottle, head of the Department of Biological and Agricultural Sciences at the Sol Plaatje University, these crabs are known as Natal river crabs (Potamonautes sidneyi) and are likely to emerge after rains and during flooding.
