NC to face strong WP side

The Northern Cape Cricket men’s team will play against Western Province (WP) at the Oval in Kimberley in a three-day game from Thursday (28/11) at 10:00, and in a one-day game on Sunday (01/11), also at the Diamond Oval.

The Northern Cape (NC) side, captained by Aubrey Swanepoel, had a very good run by beating both North West and Border back-to-back by an innings.

The team is on a high and is playing very good cricket.

A huge highlight of the past two games was the performance of Ernest Kemm, who got back-to-back 150s, and the bowling of Desmond de Koker, Beyers Swanepoel and Aubrey Swanepoel have been outstanding.

They will, however, now play a strong WP team that includes a few Proteas.

For the WP team it is a big game, and a challenge to come to Kimberley to take on the home team, which sits at the top of the table of Pool B.

WP has only managed one win so far for the season.

For the NC outfit it will be up to guys like Keegan Petersen, Obus Pienaar and Ottneil Baartman to join in and make an effort to beat this strong WP team.

“I am very happy with where my players are as a team,” says JP Triegaardt, coach of the NC team.

“We have worked very hard on all aspects of the game.

“I cannot look at the opposition, I focus on our processes and the results will take care of itself.

“I would like to appeal to the public to come out and support our team.”
