It was action galore from Thursday (05/12) to Saturday (07/12) at the Skatepark Arena in Kimberley when local, national and international athletes competed in this year’s Kimberley Diamond Cup’s Action Sport Festival.

Ivan Monteiro, a Brazilian skater, won the first prize of R250 000 in the men’s cate­gory.

Micky Papa from Vancouver in Canada was the first runner-up and takes home the second prize of R120 000.

Konstantin Kabanov from Russia received R75 000 as the second runner-up.

In the women’s category, two skaters from Kimberley showed their worth.

Boipelo Awuah from Kimberley received the first prize of R30 000, Kelly Murray from Johannesburg ended second and won R15 000, while Natalie Bramley, also from Kimberley, won R10 000 as the second runner-up.

The event was hosted in co-operation with Northern Cape Tourism and the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
