Business Chamber to launch cleaning campaign

THE Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber will soon be launching a Clean City Campaign, an initiative that will primarily be driven by the involvement of business and civil society in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The programme would take the form of voluntary involvement where each member will volunteer time, manpower and financial resources in cleaning up a targeted area in their vicinity.

Members who commit to the initiative can either use their employees as part of their clean-up campaigns or create temporary jobs for a small team that can do the cleaning on their behalf.

According to a statement issued by the Business Chamber’s CEO, Nomkhita Mona, they are launching a city-wide cleaning campaign to curb the worsening state of filth in the Bay

“As the Business Chamber, we strongly believe that for any city to work, the business community has a significant role to play.

“ The state of the metro is fast deteriorating because of negligence and for this reason, we are calling on all our members and civil society to get behind this initiative to help rebuild our city,” Mona said.

Driven under the hashtag #RebuildOurCity, interested parties can offer their assistance by donating any of the following items:

. Reflective bibs;

. Wheelie bins;

. Waste collection and management services;

. Branded clothing (caps and T-shirts);

. Employee volunteerism;

. Pro-bono professional services;

. Time;

. Cash donations;

. Sponsored marketing, branding, advertising and PR; services, and relevant materials;

. Refuse or garbage bags;

. Notice and billboard sponsorships;

. Branded waste recycling stations;

. Waste skips and Personal Protection Equipment (gloves, dust masks and protective eyewear).

For more information on the campaign, please contact the Business Chamber on Info@nmbbusinesschamber.co.za or call 041 373 1122.
