Fun and fitness in Bay’s own backyard

IT was like being transported back in time and getting a chance to be a kid again.

Being in the zone, doing things we haven’t done in years and even trying a few new things gave so much fun, we didn’t even realise it doubled as exercise, until the next day when we truly felt the burn.

Kureshin Reddy, the owner of Gravity Indoor Trampoline Park, and Sylvio Carriapen were our hosts.

They invited us to try as many of the activities as we wanted to, including the ninja pit, basketball, run up walls, the gladiator pit and, of course, the many, many trampolines.

On a day that the rain hit hard on the roof making outdoor fun impossible, the trampoline park offered us an array of non-stop action and fun.

The Olympic trampoline proved to be quite an experience. In comparison to a normal trampoline, it offers increased power; therefore, the time spent in the air feels somewhat longer than usual. The feeling gives your body a rush of anticipation for yet another jump.

We also faced a few challenges in the park, such as getting out of the foam pits (that got quite interesting) as well as our time in the body bubble.

Each fun station has a set of guides that ensures individuals who take part in the fun are also cautious.

The trampoline park knows no age as we were soon joined by a small group of daring toddlers whose thrill equally represented ours.

With so much to do, it was safe to describe us as “little children in a candy store.”

Gravity Indoor Trampoline Park Port Elizabeth was opened about two years ago and has proven popular with people of all ages.

“My family went to Durban and my daughter was crying about going to a similar place. I went there three times in one week, she liked it so much,” Reddy said.

“I thought this could work in PE, especially with the weather. It’s fun, but it’s also about fitness.”

They host corporate team building, fitness classes and a lot of birthday parties.

“When we bring out the Avengers, Mickey Mouse, Peppa Pig and so on, this place comes to a standstill.”

Though the park offers children in particular an unforgettable experience, Reddy said the dominant age group is 25 years and older.

It is truly an experience for the whole family to enjoy.
