Another taxi killing in Mbekweni

A 41-year-old taxi boss, Nkosiyabo Mhobo, was brutally killed in Mbekweni on Monday at 21:30.

According to sergeant Nceba Vanqa, police spokesperson, the shooting took place at Monwabisi Street at B-Block.

”The taxi owner was shot and his wife rushed him to the Mediclinic Paarl where he died on arrival.”

The motive for the shooting is still unknown and a murder case is being investigated.

Taxi violence has been rife in the area over the past months, with three other taxi drivers being killed in the area during last month alone.. In another case, a vehicle was recovered in Mbekweni after it was highjacked on Sunday 16 February.

Vanqa said that a taxi driver from Kraaifontein, Steven Kamudzandu was held at gunpoint by two unknown males while he was entering the gate at Desmond Tutu High School to attend a church service. The suspects forced him and his passengers out of the vehicle and drove away.
