Libraries are open in Drakenstein

DRAKENSTEIN – Residents can visit their local libraries again and lay their hands on their favourite books.

Libraries in Drakenstein opened their doors on Monday with a limited walk-in service.

Gerald Esau, Director: Community Services at the Municipality said library staff have been preparing the libraries to open, with limited walk-in services, in the safest possible way. All libraries are now open from Monday to Friday.

Not many residents may be aware, but the library also offers second-hand books for sale. For the book lover who would like to add on to their collection at a lower price this may be just the right option for you.. All patrons must wear face masks, and screening will be done at the library’s entrance. Sanitising stations will be available at the entrance and inside the library. The total number of patrons entering the library is determined based on the library space. Patrons will be able to select their own books from the shelves and borrow them, but this service will be limited to 15 minutes. Use of computers for 30 minutes for research and information purposes only. Use of copier allowed, but not for longer than 15 minutes. Sitting at tables and periodical sections will still be restricted, but information needs and requests will be attended to by the library staff;. Book donations will be accepted, but quarantined before selection. Curbside and online requests will still be available. Virtual book reviews, books lists and links to books and other information will be available on www.drakenstein.gov.za;. Public toilet facilities will be restricted. All work areas will be sanitised after each use.
