Paarl FM launches second sanitary pad drive

With schools back in full swing this week, Paarl FM has launched its annual sanitary pad drive for teenage girls, so they don’t miss out on invaluable school time.

Studies have found that teenage girls in South Africa miss up to five school days a month during their menstrual cycle, as they do not have the necessary tools at their disposal.

This year marks the second time the radio station is running its Keep A Girl in School projectto help a girl in need.

“Last year we were able to hand over a box of sanitary pads to 15 local schools, thanks to our Paarl FM family’s donation,” Station Manager Lyndan Jafta said.

The public is invited to bring their donations to the station at Rembrandt Mall. Or, if organisations choose to pursue their own effort, they can contact Jafta to collect the proceeds.

Jafta hopes to collect at least 3 000 pads by the end of February. He encourages men to join the campaign.
