Simondium and F’hoek record a rise in theft

Both the Franschhoek and Simondium areas have seen an increase in cable and other general theft in the last week.

Community responder Kurt Maske said reports have been coming in of various farms and estates being targeted.

On Saturday evening (4 August) the Cape Winelands Riding Equestrian Estate was targeted by cable thieves, and on Monday 5 August two farms near the Simondium Road were targeted around 03:35.

Maske said the thieves steal cables and vandalise property in the community in general.

He said floodlights and solar lights have been stolen at the entrance to Le Manoir de Brendel on the R45 outside Franschhoek between Monday and Wednesday this week.

“Please remember to contact your security company if you see anyone suspicious-looking around your property,” Maske urged.
