Three stabbed . . .

Three men have died in three separate stabbing incidents in Mbekweni and Wellington over the weekend of 16 and 17 November.

A 29-year-old man, Siphosethu Makeke, died a few hours after being taken to Paarl Hospital on Saturday 16 November at 08:00, after sustaining stab wounds to the neck and left side of his chest, apparently after an argument, in the Nederpark Informal Settlement.

According to Mbekweni police spokesperson Sgt Nceba Vanqa, a witness related events that led to the stabbing. The person said after his argument with the suspect the deceased made his way home.

“The witness said the suspect followed the deceased to his shack,” Vanqa said. “The suspect then knocked at the door, and when the deceased opened it the suspect stabbed him.”

A murder case docket was registered at the Mbekweni Police Station.

A 33-year-old suspect, Anele Dayimane was arrested and appeared in Paarl Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 19 November.

In another incident, Mbekweni police responded to a complaint in Lusaka Street, OR Tambo block, near Wellington, on Sunday 17 November at 21:00.

According to Nceba, the owner of the house was returning from work when she saw a man known to her, John Khasin, lying face-up in front of her house.

“The Mbekweni police were called to the scene. They found the deceased had several stab wounds to his chest.”

Paarl paramedics were called to the scene, and Khasin was declared dead at the scene.

The motive for the stabbing had yet to be determined, and no arrests had been made.

In the third incident, Wilson Magwiti (44) was also stabbed to death at Lusaka Street, OR Tambo block at 23:30 on Sunday 17 November.

Mbekweni police received a call from Paarl Hospital reporting a possible murder.

The motive for this alleged killing was also still unclear at the time of going to print.

Anyone wishing to shed some light on the mysterious killings is welcome to contact Mbekweni police on 021 868 9900.
