W’ton mother stabs daughter

A mother from Wellington allegedly stabbed her daughter (19) to death on Saturday in May Avenue, Van Wyksvlei. The incident apparently followed after the two had been arguing.

According to bystanders at the scene the daughter was addicted to drugs, and described the incident as a “Ellen Pakkies-case”.

In 2007 Pakkies, who lives in Lavender Hill in Cape Town, murdered her drug addicted son, Adam, after she couldn’t handle and live with his abuse anymore.

Capt Basil Seekoei, Wellington Police spokesperson, confirmed the murder.

“The detectives in Wellington are investigating a case of murder. It is believed that the suspect and the deceased was involved in an argument, after which the suspect took a knife and fatally wounded the deceased,” Seekoei added.

The 56-year-old woman was set to appear in the Wellington Magistrates’ Court on Monday on a charge of murder, but instead she was released on a warning.

Seekoei says “the case was remanded until 7 April 2021”.

Due to the fact that the accused was not brought before the court her name and any further details surrounding her identity may not be released at this time.

Paarl Post reached out to a family member about the incident, but they were not willing to answer any questions.

• Meanwhile, the Mbekweni Police are investigating the murder of a young man, Zuko Dayimani, who was stabbed to death in OR block around 02:00 on Sunday morning (18 October).

Nceba Vanqa, Mbekweni Police spokesperson, says the 19-year-old Dayimani sustained numerous stab wounds.

“He [Dayimani] had multiple stab wounds – three on his chest, one on his left arm, one on his back and one on his left upper eye,” Vanqa added.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Mbekweni Police on 021 868 9905.
