Mountain Club hosts climate talk, slide show

The Paarl Wellington branch of the Mountain Club of South Africa will be hosting a talk by Dr David Gwynne-Evans on “Species loss resulting from Climate Change”.

In this photographic extravaganza of his meanderings around Africa, Dr Gwynne-Evans explores the topic of species loss due to climate change. He also showcases his citizen science platform, Casabio.

Dr Gwynne-Evans is currently documenting Proteaceae in the Cape in order to assess the impacts of climate change on our flora. Many plant species are at risk of extinction including the iconic Cedar Tree that he shows is undergoing catastrophic decline. He will end with some challenges that we need to embrace.

This interesting talk takes place on 28 July at the Historium, 11 Pastorie Avenue, Paarl, at 15:00.

The entrance fee is R25 p.p. which includes wine and snacks. Book before 21 July by phoning Margaretha Bruwer on 083 304 9789 or email: margaretha.bruwer@kaapagri.co.za.
