Photo show, talk explores flora loss

The Mountain Club of South Africa (MCSA) Paarl/Wellington invites you to a talk about climate change and how it affects plants in the Cape.

The talk, by Dr David Gwynne-Evans, will take place on 28 July at 15:00 at the Historium Conference Centre, 11 Pastorie Avenue, Paarl.

He is currently documenting Proteaceae in the Cape in order to assess the impacts of climate change on our flora. Many plant species are at risk of extinction including the iconic Cedar Tree that he shows is undergoing catastrophic decline. In this photographic extravaganza, David explores this topic of species loss through his meanderings around Africa, he showcases his citizen science platform, CASABIO, and ends with some challenges for the MCSA to embrace.

Entry is R25 per person and includes wine and snacks. Book your seat with Margaretha Bruwer at margaretha.bruwer@gmail.com or on 083 304 9789.
