Alleged child killer appears in court
tazne van Wyk

The man accused of the murder and kidnapping of Tazné van Wyk (8) entered Goodwood magistrate's court with visible injuries which he claimed were inflicted by police.

Dressed in a black shirt, which was pulled over his head (to prevent the gallery from seeing his face) and a khaki cargo pants with green flip flops, 54-year-old Moehydien Pangaker, stirred up anger from the community.

Tazné disappeared from her home in Ravensmead on Friday 7 February.

Her body was found in a stormwater drain along the N1 outside of Worcester on Wednesday 19 February.

Magistrate Bukiwe Sambudla postponed the case to Friday 17 April for further investigation.

Sambudla was informed by Pangaker's defence lawyer that he had injuries to his ribs, neck and wrists.

"He also showed injuries to his right leg and left arm," Sambudla said.

Defence lawyer Nico Janse van Rensberg told the court that his client won't be applying for bail, to which state prosecutor Michael Greenwood responded, "if a bail application is made, the state will oppose it."
