Mayor’s condolences to COVID-19 affected families

NELSON Mandela Bay Municipality Acting Mayor Councillor Thsonono Buyeye has sent his condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones to COVID-19.

“Many families have been affected and with some members possibly infected too. We wish the families strength during this difficult time,” said Mayor Buyeye.

This comes after former Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole, Mongameli Bobani, died on November 11, after he was admitted to hospital for COVID-19.

“We are once again appealing to our residents to adhere to the regulations. You get old people who adhere to all the regulations in place but get infected because the youngsters they live with do not adhere to the regulations. COVID-19 is real, it is not a joke and we wish our residents could take it as such so that we can save as many people as we possibly can.”

Although the hot spot areas include Motherwell, KwaZakhele and New Brighton, the areas of Chatty, Walmer and Central are fast becoming hot spot areas too. “COVID-19 cases are growing in these areas at an alarming rate,” said Mayor Buyeye.
