U’hage born spearheads online festival

This Braai Day weekend, South Africans (and the world) are in for a legendary RnB/Soul experience with the Artist United Global Festival online event, spearheaded by and featuring Uitenhage-born performer, Dawnay.

On Saturday, September 26 from 18:00, join a star-studded line-up that includes the phenomenal Melba Moore – a four-time Grammy® nominee, best known for number one RnB hits such as “Just a little bit more” and “Falling”, who is also joined by SA’s very own hit-maker and world-renowned Michael Jackson performer, Dantanio Goodman.

The Artist United Global Festival online event of Saturday, is spearheaded by and features Uitenhage-born performer, Dawnay.

According to concert organiser Dawnay, the Artist United Global Festival is a joint effort between performers-slash-promoters on three continents and includes artists from South Africa, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Further performances include dance pop singer Donna Allen, best known for the hits “Serious” and “Joy and Pain” and the queens of lovers’ rock reggae music, Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson, and Heather Haywood (The Cool Notes), among others.

“The biggest online concert of the year, this event not only provides some income for those involved, but also for the charity, Band Aid SA, we are supporting,” says SAMA-nominated Dawnay.

According to co-event organiser and artist promoter DJ Uncle Cal, it is frustrating that artists’ lives have changed so dramatically with this pandemic, “But, just like everyone else, we have no other choice but to adapt to our new virtual reality.

“It’s not all doom and gloom. This new normal has its perks. Big-name live performances are now just a click away.”

According to DJ Uncle Cal, a portion of the proceeds from Artist United Global Festival will be donated to Band Aid SA, a reputable charity that assists local artists in financial difficulty, as well as further community support initiatives.

Dawnay, who has been entertaining South Africans since 2001 says, “South Africa must get ready. This is a big event and SA artists are taking our place on the global stage. Not only do we have Dantanio Goodman, who is fresh off his tours in Germany, Russia and Australia – starring in various Michael Jackson-inspired productions. SA also boasts well-known performers and DJs like WillB and DJ Uncle Cal, who are also exciting additions to the line-up.”
