Artist’s works chosen
06 September 2018

Thabong-born artist, Nkoali Nawa, has once again been recognised for his superb work.

He is one of four prominent South African artists who were chosen to be part of the Nando’s Creative Exchange, which opened on 30 August at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town.

The works will be on display until 26 September. The group exhibition, Rituals, is presented in partnership with the Spier Arts Trust and showcases the works of Nawa, Christo Basson, Ludumo Maqabuka and Nkosinathi Quwe.

This year’s Nando’s Creative Exchange exhibition, Rituals, acknowledges that in the past decade artists’ concepts have shifted from justice and injustice to rituals – the gathering of real experience beyond imagined ideals.

Nawa holds a National Diploma (Fine Arts) and a BTech from the then Technicon Free State, Bloemfontein.

In 2002 he was a visiting artist at the Bag Factory, Johannesburg, and at the Greatmore Art Studios, Woodstock. In 2003 he was a national finalist in the Brett Kebble Awards, Cape Town.

Between 1996–2003 Nawa lectured and and taught art throughout South Africa.
